About Pre-School: As many of you know, our pre-school programs have all been given their own special Hebrew names. We are proud to share these names with our Day School families. From Pre-k 4 to toddlers their names are; Kochavim (Stars), Levavot (Hearts), Yonim (Doves), and Parparim (Butterflies). Pre-school parents have been invited to join us on Friday morning February 20, for the upcoming class program naming ceremony. Everyone is welcome to attend. We are also accepting, with great anticipation, creative classroom logos. To create a logo, utilize the class emblem in combination with a Judaic symbol. Send your ideas to the school office. I just can’t wait to see them all!
 
About Day school: Our Step- In program was a great success. We had quite a few Day School parents who were able to visit in classes, and our teachers were extremely informative. Within the next few weeks the Day school students will Step-Up and visit the classes that they will be assigned to next school year. And, because the Day school students have been working so hard they have been given a “directors surprise”. The day will comprise of time to observe the Judaic art and statues all around the synagogue, and with their cozy pajamas on, they may lay low, chill…and enjoy a different way to study. 
 
Holiday news: During Tu B’Shevat holiday we plant trees to help Israel grow and to make the land fruitful and beautiful. Our Bet Breira students are all excited about the many Tu B’Shevat activites that have been planned for next week. The 4th and 5th grade classes have been invited to Greenfield Day School to celebrate the holiday with them. Our Pre-k -3rd graders will plant seeds and taste fruit with friends and family during an outdoor seder, and our youngest children, Parparim, Yonim, Levavot have invited their parents to plant seeds as a class project. Speaking of holidays, we would love to have you join the new Chag Helpers (Holiday planners). This group is being formed for parents who would enjoy facilitating and participating in holiday activities for our students. Thank you in advance to everyone who volunteers.
 
…Other issues: Photo tiles have been added to the courtyard side wall. They are very special memories. If anyone has any restoration ideas for the tiles that have faded over the years, we welcome your input. 

Following up: Parents have begun to send in their child’s Derech Eretz awards. After acknowledging the students during Shabbat Services, their awards are then posted on the bulletin board across from the school office. Let us announce your child’s Derech Eretz behavior at services, and please join us with pride!

Attention 4 year olds! We are now a VPK site! 

All children who turn 4 years old before September 1, 2008, are eligible for this program. 

We are thrilled to announce that our Smart Boards are installed in Mrs. Prince’s 5th grade class and our library/ computer lab for access by all grades! These electronic white boards will be used to create an engaging 21st-century learning environment for our students. Our teachers are being trained to create thought provoking and challenging curriculum to use these boards to their fullest advantage!

Mazel Tov to our awesome Jump Rope Team! They have had a great summer traveling and showing off their stuff. First 4 Jumpers attended the Nationals in Orlando for the first time. One placed 13th out of 75!! Then they were off to the Junior Olympics in Detroit where 8 jumpers competed. 5 Ribbons and 1 Silver Metal were won! Three athletes achieved their personal best during this competition! Way to Go!!!

Lunch this year at BBS will be a dining experience! We are now part of the kidsdeli.com lunch program. With this program parents can order lunch on a daily, weekly or monthly plan right from your own computer. Lunches are packed and delivered daily –ready to serve to hungry kids. Many items are offered from sushi to hot dogs and all are nutritionally based and taste delicious! Parents plan, order and pay on line. Mom and Dad can even insert a personal note to the kids!

We are also offering our traditional “Pizza Day” on Wednesdays.

BBS exceptional Enrichment Program is planned and ready to enhance your child’s education - preschool and day school students alike, through creative learning and play! The enrichment program is now open to all Temple kids! We now offer Tae Kwon Do, Fun Bus Gymnastics, Mind Lab, Environmental Connections, Jazz, Drama and Suzuki-style piano lessons to name a few of the new classes offered.
